January 24, 2024 – Due in part to Putin’s poor leadership, as well as exploitation of the weaknesses of the Russian legal system, reiderstvo has increased dramatically in Russia. Russian reiderstvo is defined as the corporate raiding of a company’s assets. TogliattiAzot (ToAZ) has been a victim of this corporate raiding.
A nearly 2,500 km long pipeline was built to connect the ammonia produced in Togliatti by TogliattiAzot (“ToAZ”) with the port of Odessa in Ukraine, in order to transport the ammonia to international markets. There are only three pipelines in the world that are longer than this, and all of them carry only gas and oil.
Although it was built during a more prosperous era, its more recent past illustrates the tragic decline of Russia’s legal system and the submission of the country’s economy and legal system to the political whims of the oligarchs and the Kremlin.
